This year, cruise lines will be releasing 18 new ships, seven of which will be riverboats while the remaining eleven will be ocean-going cruise ships. The largest of these newest and soon to be launched ships is the Oasis of the Seas, which can accommodate approximately 5, 400 passengers onboard.

With the recession, you may wonder how these cruise lines can still afford to have new ships built when all over the world, people are ranting over the recession and many other companies are hitting it hard with the global financial crisis.
